About GITA

The Gita Ch-7. Gyan-Vigyan Yoga. -- Science of Self Knowledge.

.......contd.

Summing up this chapter of science of divine spiritual knowledge,

Lord says:-"Those, who strive for liberty from old age and death take my refuge. The spiritually evolved souls, do deeds and activities which are always good and noble. Noble people know that all activities, pertaining to body and senses (Adhibhuta), pertaining to natural elements (Adhideiva) and pertaining to holy sacrifices (Adhiyagna) are perfectly going on according to My laws. Such people are firm in their faith in Me and are peaceful even at the time of their death". (Verses Nos., 29 & 30)

Jesus was not afraid of dying. So he spoke such words at the time of his crucification.

"Oh Lord, forgive them because they do not know what they are doing".

Mahatma Gandhi uttered 'Rama Rama' when a fanatic Hindu fired a gun shot which produced his death on the spot. Such examples of history provide the proof of unshakable faith of true devotees in One God.

Chapter Summary:

Deva worship and worship of One supreme God are different things. In Bhakti path of One God, one has to surrender everything to Lord which one possesses in material terms.

An Urdu hymn nicely expresses the theme of this Bhakti (Bandgi) Yoga chapter in following words.

Khudi ko kar buland eetna
ki har taharir se pahele,
Khuda bandeko khud puchhe,
bata teri raja kya hai.

"Broaden your vision and thoughts so wide that even God has to come down from heaven and ask, My dear Devotee, tell Me your wish, I am at your service".

The statistics indicated in verse No.3, are worth remembering. Only a rare human being - one in a million - who has achieved some success in life truly knows God. Majority of good nature successful people are entrapped in the veil of Maya (material attachments). Only a few successful souls really live divine life along with highest morals expressed in the holy scriptures.

Lord indicates His many universal forms (Vishva-swaroops) and gives a vivid picture of His divine qualities and merciful nature. His manifest forms could be perceived as some Devas. (Verses 8 to 11)

The understanding of the laws of mother nature (Prakruti) in continuum of TIME AND SPACE and the relationship of soul (spirit) with body, requires genuine curiosity (Verse 16).

By path of meditation, devoted study of scriptures like the Gita, Upanishads and Darshans like Sankhya, Vedanta and Patanjali Yoga it is possible to SEE the supreme one God face to face. This should be the goal of life for every human being.

Many human personalities take birth and live a good life, which is generally a mixture of 3 Goons, Sat, Rajas and Tamas. Many religious rituals are done with desires of some fruits like material wealth and happiness. The ignorant people perform such religious sacrifices to please the Devas. (V-20)

This is not disapproved by the Lord, but it is not the scientific and correct path of worship. Lord warns us that all material things and results are of short duration and always perishable. (V-23)

After the study of the Gita a person should try to develop Sad-goonas of a true devotee (Bhakta) and become a fearless fighter against the wrong practices going on in name of God and Religion. He should try to bring about renaissance of faith in religions and one God.

Most religions of today are prophet started cults or Sampradayas. According to this chapter, people who follow the guidelines indicated by the past prophets are worshipping a past Deva and not doing real worship of One God. Their attachments to religious Sampradayas (cults) and rigid social customs and commandments dictated by past prophets create phantasms in minds of people who follow such sectarian religions.
The commandments given by all past prophets were holy and good according to the need of those times. But rigid attachment to the words of scriptures obscure the ability of reason (Buddhi) and original thinking among many average followers. This leads to religious egotism, wars (Jihad) and hatreds. Millions have died due to religious wars as compared to political wars of conquerors of land areas.

This is said in many verses of this chapter. "It is very difficult to find a true devotee of God, who is devoid of egos and material attachments".

Hari Om Tat Sat.
(God is absolute truth)

Shanti, Shanti, Shantihi.
( Let Peace Prevail, Let Peace Prevail, Let Peace Prevail)

Shree Krishn Sharanam Mamah.
(I surrender to Invisible Lord of Universe Shri Krishna)
