About GITA

The Gita Ch-7. Gyan-Vigyan Yoga. -- Science of Self Knowledge.

.......contd.

"Oh! Man of Earth (Partha), I know your mind is in tune with Me and you are seeking My advice. I will remove your doubts regarding My Imperishable and Omni-present form. I will tell you about divine knowledge, science of self-realization and Eternal wisdom. Nothing more remains to be known if one gains this knowledge". (Verse. 1 & 2).

Who and how many know the divine and infinite form of God? In the 3rd verse Lord gives us statistics of real knowers of God. Only one in a million perfectly knows God. Those who talk about God do not know God and those who truly know Him can't describe His infinite glory by words.

"Only one in a thousand try to achieve some success (Siddhi = material achievements) in life; and out of thousand successful people, only one really knows Me perfectly". (Verse. 3).

Lord gives nice statistics in this verse. "Only one in a million human beings (1000 x 1000 = 1,000,000) really knows God and has unshakable faith in God". These figures are worth remembering when an Indian Guru or any priest talks about God. They preach renunciation of wealth, detachment from family life, donation of money to build temples and place idols of Gods, etc.,. Know for sure that he is preaching wrong ideas. Renunciation of money and family is wrong according to this Verse. Such a Guru is wrong or ignorant (AGYANI). He is misguiding the masses in the name of God and is making money by using religion as commodity and God's name as tool.

This verse clearly indicates become rich if you are poor, "achieve some success (Siddhi) in material world". Material successes come only by correct practice of Karma Yoga (discussed in chapters 2 to 6). This is why Karma Yoga is preached and discussed in the first six chapters in great details.

Karma are done by the physical (material) body. The results are visible and understandable in material terms. One needs first of all good health of body, some wealth, good name, status and fame etc.,. in family, social and national life.

Hinduism started with the Vedas. The Vedas teach worship of many natural elements like the sun, moon, fire, air, water, land as different Deity Gods and Goddesses. Every one must know and respect these deity Gods. He/she must remain well united in family life also. Every one must also respect nearby living human deities like mothers, fathers and teachers. By living in harmony with mother nature and mutual love in family relations, any individual (Atma) will achieve desired successes in very short time. (See Verses 10 to 14 in Ch-3, and Verses 9 to 12 in Ch-4).

"I am diversified in mother nature (Prakruti) as 8 different elements, namely Land, Water, Air, Fire (Energy or Light), Space, Mind, Intellect and Ego". (Verse. 4).

Many Gurus ask to remove Ego. This is wrong preaching, according to this important Verse. Ego is a part and parcel of Self Consciousness in any living human personality. One must have correct 'Egos and Prides' about achievements (Siddhies), one's family unity, knowledge, village, country, heritage, culture and so on.

A student of religious scriptures and self knowledge has to discriminate between true Egos and false Egos by using one's own judgment and reason (intellect or Buddhi). The Sanskrit pronoun for first person singular is "I", spoken as 'Aham'. From it the word Ahamkar (= Ego) roots. True Ego is self-uplifting but false Egos lead to sins, crimes and downfall. Remember once again in the Gita, Lord speaks in first person singular Aham or "I".

Lord gives the proof of His infinite, imperishable universal spiritual forms and describes the ever changing visible Universe. Nonliving objects of mother nature (Prakruti) like the Land, water air, light of sun and space- the 5 Universal Basic Elements (Panch Mahatabhutas) unite to form manifest bodies of all living creatures by a special element (Spirit), which is also created by me. The spirit is different from non-living 5 Basic Elements.

All living and non-living bodies are in a dynamic motion and subject to fixed and predictable changes. They are not stationary as they appear. A Yogi by deep meditation understands, nonstop movements of the sun and the Earth and realizes the Time- Place bondage of all physical objects and living beings. The waters in oceans and rivers, ice tops of mountains, clouds, all stars and planets in the sky are in a continuous nonstop motion.

"There is an additional element 'spirit' or life-spark by which I bind these elements. (It is called Chetana, Brahama tatva, Jiva-atma, Tat, Atman in different Indian scriptures). Oh Dhananjaya (who has conquered greed of money), I create all creatures, recreate, destroy and maintain them also by an interplay of the 5 basic elements". (Verses 5 and 6)

Having explained above broad picture of ever changing dynamic universe, Lord gives a nice poetic analogy of a thread and pearls in the next verse.

"I am like a thread running through pearls and binding them into a beautiful necklace. My holy spirit pervades in all living creatures like a thread which creates and maintains my wonderful world of variety of beings. There is nothing higher than the Holy Spirit". (Verse 7).
